Punchbowl Fault, California, USA (2025)

Permeability measurements across the Punchbowl Fault as part of Lisette's (undergrad at UCSD) SCEC internship with our lab. Montse and Hanna kindly joined to help out and join in the fun.

Rainy Lake, Ontario, Canada (2025)

Structure supergroup trip to Rainy Lake to examine the Quetico shear zone, squished metasediments and pillows, and some ancient stromatolites.

Muddy Mountains, Nevada, USA (2025)

A wild week measuring permeability across the visually striking, low angle, Muddy Mountain thrust. Moses has described beautiful injection veins in the hanging wall at this site; excellent evidence for fluid overpressure during seismic events. The Aztec sandstone in the footwall is a high permeability unit; we tested whether the permeability of the footwall decreased towards the fault to permit fluid overpressurization during seismic slip.
